With this online application, you can remove line numbering from any text. It works with standard and custom numeric formats, as well as standard and custom alphabetic formats. By activating the "Delete Numeric Numbering" checkbox in the options, the program will instantly clear the text lines from several types of standard numbering. The numeric numbering prefixes include just the numbers "1 …, 2 …, 3 …", numbers with a dot or a bracket "1. …, 2. …, 3. …", or "1) …, 2) …, 3) …", or "1] …, 2] …, 3] …", numbers enclosed in brackets "(1) …, (2) …, (3) …" or "[1] …, [2] …, [3] …", numbers with a hash "#1 …, #2 …, #3 …", and numbers with a hyphen "-1 …, -2 …, -3 …". If the text lines use a different numbering format, then you can also remove it using the custom numbering option. To do this, in the option field, enter the line numbering template that uses the substring "%n", which corresponds to the line number itself. For example "%n:" template will remove line numbers that are followed by a colon, such as "1: …, 2: …, 3: …". Similar to numeric numbering, you can also get rid of alphabetic numbering. Alphabetic numbering increases each letter by one, so the first line is "a", next is "b", then "c", and so on. By activating the option "Delete Letter Numbering" the program will immediately remove the following types of numbering: "a …, b …, c …", "a. …, b. …, c. …", "a) …, b) …, c) …", "a] …, b] …, c] …", "(a) …, (b) …, (c) …", "[a] …, [b] …, [c] …", "#a …, #b …, #c …", and "-a …, -b …, -c …". Also below this option there's a field for specifying custom letter numbering format. Here you can enter any pattern containing "%n" to match a numbering letter. For example, the format "%n/" will match lines "a/ …, b/ …, c/ …". If the input text contains many levels of numbering, for example, "1. 1) …, 1. 2) … 2. 1) …", then use the "Recursive Removing" option to remove all numbering levels as deep as possible. Textabulous!
In this example, we remove line numbers 1-9 from a list of the top 9 must-visit destinations in Europe. Since the list uses the standard numeric format with a dot after each number, we just need to activate the "Delete Numeric Numbering" option to get a clean list in the output.
In this example, we're working with a list of productivity tips for working from home. As each tip is written on a new line and uses the alphabetic numbering format with letters enclosed in square brackets, we turn on the "Delete Letter Numbering" mode. As a result, we get the lines without letter numbering before them.
In this example, we remove several layers of line numbering at once. As you can see, the lines use both numeric and alphabetic numbering. To do this, we activate the recursive removal option and enable the options to remove both numbers and letters. In the custom numeric numbering setting, we enter a non-standard line format that's used in the text "%n:" and in the custom alphabetic numbering option, we specify the template "<%n>", which means a letter wrapped in angle brackets.
