The program randomly replaces letters and symbols in the text with new random characters, thereby adding a level of inconsistency to the content. In this example, we add errors to a quote by Marcus Tullius Cicero. We only distort the letters by randomly replacing them with other letters. We set the error rate to 25% (a quarter of all letters) and enable the "Keep Letter Case" option so that the case of capital and lowercase letters is maintained.
In this example, in order to test an automated letter sorting system, we added errors to a postal address. We mangled the numbers in it by selecting the appropriate checkbox in the options ("Add Errors to Numbers"), as well as the capital letters by listing them in the additional characters field. For the new error symbols, we use Roman numerals, which now randomly appear in half of the numbers and capital letters.
In this example, we add errors to letters, numbers, spaces, and punctuation marks and distort 15% of the entire text. We use the "Add Errors by Category" option to replace each symbol with a symbol from the same category. In particular, we replace letters with uppercase vowels "AEIOU", numbers with just other numbers "4" and "6", spaces with tabs "\t", and punctuation marks with colons ":".
