With this online tool, you can enclose text lines in quotation marks. For example, if you have a multi-line poem, a paragraph of text, or a vertical list of items, then the program will wrap each line in custom quotation marks. In the options, you'll find two fields that allow you to customize the desired quotation marks. In the "Left Quote" field, you can specify the quote symbol that will appear at the beginning of each line and in the "Right Quote" field, you can enter the quote symbol that will terminate each line. The next option allows you to control repeated line quoting. By activating the "Enable Multi-quoting" checkbox, the tool will enclose lines in quotes even if they already have been enclosed in the same quotes. The final option is called "Enable Empty Line Quoting", and as the name suggests, it allows you to put lines in quotes even if they do not have visible characters. Textabulous!

In this example, we are quoting lines of James Baldwin's quote. James's quote has a neat vertical format and to emphasize each line, we wrap all lines in the symbols «…».
This example decorates the lines of a lovely poem with distinct quotation symbols. The left and right quotation symbols are positioned at different heights and are facing opposite directions „…“. As there's an empty line between the first and second verse of the poem, the example uses the "Enable Empty Line Quoting" option to quote this line without symbols.
In this example, we add quotation marks to a list of world-famous bridges. As each list item is on a new line, then we simply add quotation marks to each line. We use a rare type of quotation marks called a "fisheye quotes". They consists of a less-than and greater-than symbol with dot characters ⋖…⋗ in the middle and resemble the face of a fish. Even though some text lines already have their own quotation marks, we quote them again by using the "Enable Multi-quoting" option.
You can pass input to this tool via ?input query argument and it will automatically compute output. Here's how to type it in your browser's address bar. Click to try!
