With this online tool, you can erase certain letters from the given words, while preserving the structure of the entire text. You can think of it as an electronic rubber eraser. The letters that are erased are replaced with whitespace symbols and it's as if they had never been written before. The program has several modes for erasing letters. The first mode is called "Erase Specific Letters" and it allows you to specify which letters you want to remove from the text. For example, if the input text is "The Sun shines brightly" and you specify the letters "hr" in this mode, the output will be the text without those letters: "T e Sun s ines b ig tly". The second mode is called "Leave Specific Letters" and it allows you to specify which letters should not be removed from the text. All other letters that are not specified in this option will be removed (except for spaces, tabs, and newlines). For example, if you have the same text "The Sun shines brigthly, and you enter the letters "thesnrbg" in this mode, the output will be "The S n sh nes br ght ". If you prefer more randomness, then there's also a mode called "Erase Random Letters". In this mode, you do not need to specify which letters to erase or preserve. Instead, you can specify how many letters in total to erase. For example, if you enter the number "5" in the letter count field, the output will be "Th sun shin s br h ly", or "T e sun hine brig t y", or "The sun ine br ghtl ", or any other variation of the text with five missing letters. The "Case Sensitive Letters" parameter allows you to choose whether to process uppercase and lowercase letters separately or not. If this option is turned off, then all letters specified in the erase/leave options will affect both uppercase and lowercase letters in the text. Finally, the "Replacement Symbol" option allows you to set the symbol to put in place of the erased letters. In this example, we erase some of the vowels from a poem about autumn. We use the "Erase Specific Letters" mode and remove three vowels "aei". They are replaced with a space to preserve the structure of the text (including punctuation and new lines). Also, we activate the "Case Sensitive Letters" option to keep the capital vowels in the poem without changes.
In this example, we create a puzzle for English grammar students. We input the text with a large number of punctuation marks and erase all of them from the output. To do it, we use the "Leave Specific Letters" mode, enter the entire alphabet in small letters, and turn off the case-sensitive mode to match the uppercase letters as well. We replace each punctuation mark with a square box in the output and now the task is to write the right punctuation mark in each box so that the text reads correctly.
In this example, we erase most of the letters from spells used in the Harry Potter universe. We switch to the random letter erasure mode and remove 70 letters from a list of spells (out of 109 total). We replace the erased letters with an underscore symbol, thus creating a word puzzle for true Harry Potter fans. They now have to fill in the letters and guess the well-known spells.
